From here, take scenic day trips to Taos, Santa Fe, Angel Fire, Eagle Nest, and Red River for shopping, sightseeing, and thrilling casino nights. In nearby Cimarron, explore local art galleries, cast a line for trout, and enjoy a variety of dining options—from pizza and buffalo burgers to homemade comfort food and fine dining.
Ponil Campgrounds offers both RV parking and tent camping, surrounded by the beauty of nature. With a charming country feel, large shade trees, a tranquil creek along the perimeter, and deer and wild turkey strolling through the grounds, it’s the perfect spot to unwind. We look forward to welcoming you as our guest!
Our area is an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise, offering endless ways to enjoy the natural beauty of northern New Mexico. Go hunting, fishing, backpacking, 4-wheeling, horseback riding, or even golfing—all just minutes from Ponil Campgrounds.
On-site, you'll find everything you need to relax and have fun, including cozy fire pits, picnic tables, a regulation horseshoe pit, and a spacious, screened-in pavilion perfect for gatherings. Guests can also enjoy two bathhouses and a laundry room for added comfort. The pavilion is available for private celebrations like birthdays, anniversaries, or family reunions.
Many of our guests love Ponil so much they stay with us for 4-6 months, creating a vibrant community. Together, they host potlucks, play cards and dominoes, plan shopping trips, and organize family-friendly movie nights during the summer. At Ponil, there’s always something happening, and we can’t wait for you to be a part of it!
DIRECTIONS:
From the south, go north on I-25 to exit 419, turn left (west) on Hwy 58, in 19 miles the road will dead end at a stop sign, turn right on Hwy 64 and we will be 1 mile on your left.
